The state has endured a bitter cold spell for two weeks, with mercury dipping below 10 °C in sixteen cities.
Semiliguda recorded the lowest at 3.5 °C, followed by G. Udayagiri 4 °C, Phulbani 5.2 °C, Chipilima 6.1 °C, Rourkela 6.6 °C, Jharsuguda 6.8 °C, Daringbadi 7 °C, Bhawanipatna and Angul 8 °C, Kirei 8.1 °C, Nabarangpur 8.6 °C, Koraput and Balangir 9.3 °C, Keonjhar and Sundargarh 9.6 °C, and Sonepur 10 °C. The Indian Meteorological Department says the cold wave will remain across Odisha until December 13.
Residents are urged to stay warm and limit outdoor exposure.
